Don’t duck out next year

PICTURE the scene; the sun shining from a near cloudless sky on to the idyllic setting of Blubberhouses Cricket Club.

Children clamour to take part in their races, dogs wait excitedly for their turn in the terrier races.

Families wander round the field playing the old favourite games - splat the rat, balls in buckets, tombola. Then it is time for a beer for Dad, ice cream for Mum, burgers for the kids whilst listening to the Jazz Band.

The field clears as the highlight of the day, the duck race, gets under way and the riverside path is thronged with onlookers seeing if they can spot their duck out of the 4,000 bobbing happily downstream.  Welly throwing and egg throwing competitions take part whilst race results are coming in.

Sound good? Well we had a fabulous day, possibly the best Sunday this year and raised £1,200.00 in the process.

Maybe you will now be tempted to come along next year and join in the fun.
