How to Help

Are you

…an enthusiastic leader?
…a team player?
…looking for a challenge?

Then why not join us as a local volunteer?

Volunteers founded the MND Association and continue to play a leading role in its development. They make a positive difference to the quality of life of people with MND.

Branches and Groups, like the Yorkshire Dales Branch and the North Yorks Fundraising Group are run entirely by local people. They provide the vital link between the Association and the local community, supporting people with MND, their friends and families, and also helping to raise awareness of the disease.

Branches and Groups raise thousands of pounds to help people with MND – for example buying equipment, helping with holidays or special care, and contributing to vital research.

Organising social get-togethers for people with MND, their friends, families and carers is also another important aspect of the Branch’s work. For people affected by MND, the opportunity to meet with others affected, to chat and share experiences helps reduce those feelings of isolation and worry.

Even if you’ve never heard of Motor Neurone Disease we want to hear from you. You could help us make a real difference to the quality of life for people with MND by volunteering with us. Helping out at the local Branch gives you a real sense of achievement and it’s fun!

There are lots of ways you can get involved – there is a role for everyone. From helping to manage the Branch through a position on the Management Committee, planning or helping at a fundraising event, befriending and supporting through the Association Visitor role, or perhaps spreading the word through awareness events and campaigns – and more! Whatever interests you, and whatever time you have available, we have something for you.
